Our School

Welcome to Madison Cross Roads

Nestled in the heart of the Toney/Madison Cross Roads community, our school is rooted in a rich history dating back to early 19th-century settlements along Pulaski Pike and surrounding rural crossroads. What began as small, locally built schools has grown into Madison Cross Roads Elementary—now a proud member of the Madison County Schools district.

Serving pre-K through 5th grade, our school has expanded over the years to support more than 850 students, with a dedicated team of over 60 certified teachers and 35 support staff. This includes four interventionists, two math coaches, and one reading coach. As a Title I school and participant in the Alabama First Class Pre-K initiative, we are committed to meeting the needs of a high-poverty, rural-fringe community through equitable access and high-quality instruction.

We are fully accredited by Cognia and honored to be recognized as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School of Excellence and an Alabama Bicentennial School—acknowledgments of our academic strength and deep community ties. Our diverse student body is one of our greatest strengths, enriching our school culture and promoting a spirit of inclusivity and belonging.

Under the leadership of Principal Amelia Evans and Assistant Principals LaToya Patton and Collas Washington, we uphold a culture of dignity, respect, and high expectations. Strong relationships among students, families, and staff are the cornerstone of our work.

From its humble beginnings, Madison Cross Roads Elementary has grown into a vibrant, mission-driven school. In the face of socio-economic challenges, we continue to foster a culture of care, academic excellence, and community engagement—preparing students for success today and in the future.

We are the comets.
